My Genie For My Groceries - PepperTap

I was doing the usual mindless scrolling on  when I ran into a blog poston some interesting food ideas. There was one in particular that I wanted to try, so I saw the video, got myself excited and walked into the kitchen. Then I remembered that I was out of eggs, as well as corn flour. There was not much oil left either. Disheartened, I went back and tried to find another recipe that hopefully did not use any of these items, but not only did I not find anything worth making, I really REALLY just wanted to make that one cupcake. 

So I was just about ready to grab my purse and head to the store when I thought I'd check online first. I don't normally do this, considering the number of bad vendors in the Delhi NCR area, who rarely deliver the items you ask for, and often mix it up. If you order Lichi juice, you have to be prepared to get any juice. And if you ever make the mistake of ordering vegetables, you will get a randomly picked bunch, freshness is not really a concern for them. But recently I have been ordering grocery stuff from PepperTap as they are reliable and oh-so-convenient. 

The site was pretty easy to navigate, as they had categorised everything well (And they have a LOT of categories, by the way). I found what I needed pretty quickly... And then spent a good half an hour shopping for things that I wanted :P. With everything picked out, I checked out the items and within seconds I was told that my order has been placed. I placed the order at 4:37 PM, and I was given the 6 PM to 8 PM delivery slot. The time seemed pretty long to me, but I guess pizza places have really set the bar too high :P

I was very happy with their delivery speed overall, as the order arrived at around 6:15. Delivery guys often have issues with my house due to the somewhat unusual layout, but the delivery guy seemed to have no problems finding the place. The order was not only complete, but the packaging is worth mentioning. They pack vegetables properly in sealed packets, and whatever I ordered was pretty fresh. Finally, I could start cooking!

After all that waiting,I had pretty much memorized the recipe :P So I bolted straight to the kitchen and began working on it. It turned out to be slightly more complex than I thought, but I caught on to the technique pretty quickly. Within a couple of attempts, I even began to improvise slightly and tweak the recipe. Overall, it was a lot of fun and the cupcakes were a great delight, my family also relished them. 

I am glad I decided to order the missing ingredients, because I am lazy and would have ended up making noodles and watching TV instead :P

Cards, Chai, and the little things!

Some of the biggest problems that people face when starting their own company, are rarely the ones that actually matter. You will have a harder time finding a stable chai delivery boy, or a janitor who isn't blind to that fifth bin in the corner, than actually finding a place and/or funding for it.

It sounds weird, I know, but in reality, these are the real nuances that we actually notice. Why? Because things that we can find on the internet are far easier to comprehend. Want an apartment? No problem. Need to order a spare HDMI cable? Got that covered too. Find an english speaking office boy who knows how to make sure you get extra sugar in that cup? Uh.... why not... ask the neighbouring office?.... Yeah...

Investment is always a two part deal. It takes time and money, the share not always being the same. These are the tiny things that barely dent your pocket, but keep your time locked up for days. And the higher you are up the organizational ladder, the more your time costs. 

But before you can even think of hiring the necessary manpower, you'll need to turn that empty place that smells of fresh paint, into something people can be at least look forward to growing old in :D. Office supplies and decor is key here. As a child, I never quite understood why offices had all these fake plants in the lobby. I always wondered "Why plants? And if so, why Fake?". Only once I started working in an office did I realise that it was to make people believe that the outside world still exists! (And nobody usually wants the responsibility of watering the plants... so... :P).

Last on the agenda is for every employee to personalize their "share" of the office space. This is where all the pictures and motivational posters come in :P Oh and nametags! I always wanted one of those toblerone shaped name plate thingies, Had to settle for a tiny little sticker in the corner of the door :| But I made sure to get the works done for my Business card. The design of the card had a pretty standard white background, with the text in a bold helvetica-type font that I cannot quite remember, with a nice purple header on the top right. 

Finding a local vendor turned out to be a nightmare, though. I tried five different local vendors in total. At first I just went hunting for the nearest card guy, literally resorting to asking a security guard if he knew a card printing place nearby. The first two places had terrible paper quality, and the price of a gold studded mercedes. The third place misheard me on the phone, and dealt exclusively in wedding cards. The fourth started off really well, till they informed me their minimum order is 10,000 cards. The last one, I found out, had long since been replaced by a bakery. "I am 98% disappointed by this.", I told my partner over the phone, eating a chocolate eclair.

After making all the time machine jokes he could think of, he told me to "Google it". So I searched for "Print Business Cards". I figured I'd go in order and try them all, but my first result (http://vistaprint.in/) pretty much floored me. I was pretty skeptical about ordering business cards over the internet, but I must say I was pretty impressed with the speedy delivery. (Their design template system was pretty easy to use, so I even managed to spice it up a little bit with flourish). The card quality was also spot on. This was the factor that I was most skeptical about, seeing as I could not verify/approve the card quality beforehand. This is why I placed an order of only 100 cards. Placed a re-order for 400 more within an hour of opening the package ;) 

These little details don't really show up when looking at the broad picture, but they are often the last few things to deal with, and while they don't really dent your budget (relatively!), they definitely take several hours/days away from you. No Fikar when you relocate, Just choose Quikr !!

Bangalore or now known as known as Bengluru, the Garden City is one of the most amazing and coolest city in India. They say (they being my school/college friends and even some relatives, who are living there because of their Jobs in Hi-fi MNCs, as B’lore being the silicon city, is the hub of all great software engineers) for north-Indians living in this city is a task. I’m sure they have their reasons for the same like, language and food issues, traffic jams, difference in culture etc. But still I beg to differ, I visited this city of dreams in the year of 2011 and this place won my heart the moment I landed, thanks to the wonderful cool weather. I stayed in Bangalore for 2 months, all by myself and honestly, that was the time of my life.

I loved everything about this city, even though I’m from Delhi but still B’lore is closer to my heart than Delhi. It is such a cool city with awesome people. It is urban in its own way yet it keeps the traditions alive, thanks to the rich heritage of Karnataka. I call it a Youth city, as most of the people residing there are young but not just by age but even in their ways. I have found that people in Bangalore are more active and lively than I have seen in any other city.

So, when anyone from my family asks me where do I wish to settle in India, my immediate response is – Bangalore. I love the feel of this city. Aww, I just can’t stop thinking about my time that I spent there. Those memories are super close to my heart and I wish to cherish them for life.

Hopefully, I will be moving to B’lore soon and I just cannot wait for that soon to come :P. So, if I do that, I’m going to either reside in Kormangla (that’s where Meghna Biryani is ;) ) or to Jayanagar or to Marathali ( as all my friends/relatives reside there). But foremost requirement for me would be the right apartment and I know for sure to get one the city this big, it isn’t going to be easy, but hey, I have a solution for that as well - Quikr. I believe in public transport more than anything but I strongly feel one needs to have their own vehicle as well so that they need not to depend up on others during the time of emergency.
